This annual exhibit brings together Chico's young, creative talent. Every year, our secondary school Art Teachers are tasked with selecting their student's most expressive and skillful artworks and preparing their work for exhibition. This is the only exhibit in our area to display the formative, 8 year span of our youth's creative development in a curated, visually literate environment. Please join in celebrating creative minds at work in arts education.

Community Art Competition & Fundraiser Auction

March 26 - 31 

Pizza Party & End of Silent Auction: Friday, March 31, 5-7PM
*Auction ends at 6:00PM

This year, our third year of Pizza My Art, the entries will be on exhibit in the Chico Art Center gallery.

Bid on entries starting at $10. Invite your friends to join in the fun!

  • Silent Auction opens March 26 as a virtual auction. Place your bids with your smart phone, tablet or computer until Thursday, March 30. Website will be posted here!
  • Silent Auction will continue in person on Friday, March 31 and closes at 6PM during the Pizza Party Reception.
  • Over $200 in Cash Prizes + Fun Consolation Prizes. Prizes announced during the Pizza Party/Reception.
  • Winning bids to be picked up directly after, until 7PM or Saturday, April 1 from 10AM-4PM.
  • Pizza slices and soda available for $5 during the Pizza Party.
  • Over $200 in Cash Prizes + Fun Consolation Prizes – Competition winners announced and posted at 6PM.

Call For Pizza Box Art

Enter your pizza box art at this fun fundraiser exhibit.

How to enter the Pizza my Art contest:

  1. Pick Up Your Pizza Box at Chico Art Center: Starting February 15. Entry fee $5. Family rate/4 boxes for $10.
  2. Transform a pizza box with your creativity.
  3. Drop Off Pizza Box Art: Thursday, March 23 from Noon-4 pm.
  4. Exhibition and Auction opens Sunday, March 26.
  5. Pizza Party & End of Silent Auction: Friday, March 31, 5-7PM. Auction ends at 6PM.

25 Years of a Life Drawing Group

March 2-22, 2023

Reception: Friday, March 10, 5-7PM

This exhibit features work from an ongoing community of local artists, models and group coordinators who have continued the dedicated practice of filtering signal from noise, distinguishing their chosen forms from background. This exhibit is dedicated to the late Sal Casa, influential figure drawing instructor at CSU, Chico and Chico Art Center and a number of other talented local artists closely involved with CAC during Casa's tenure.

‘SIT INS’ in the Gallery

Saturdays, March 4 & 18, 1:00-3:00PM

Pose for the drawing group for 20 minutes and take home all of the drawings with a donation of any amount. Sitters may dress casual or in costumes of your choosing.

All are welcome to draw as well! Drawing materials available.

‘DRAW INS’ in Classroom #2

Wednesdays, March 8 & 22, 1:00 - 3:00PM

Try your hand at participating in a real life drawing group experience with a live model (probably 20 min. poses).  Drawing materials are available. A quick 10-15 min. overview on basic proportions of the body will be given.

PORTRAIT PRACTICE

10 Years of a Drawing Group

February 4-27

Reception: Friday, February 10, 5-7PM

This exhibit features work from an ongoing community of artists, models and group coordinators who have continued the dedicated practice of portraiture. The CAC Wednesday Afternoon Portrait Drawing Session was a break out group of artists from the Monday Morning Figure Drawing Session who wanted to focus on drawing the model's face in various poses.

You're welcome to join the artists in drawing the sitters. Drawing materials available.

Chico Art Center kicks off our 67th year by celebrating the talents of creatives that support our organization with their membership.

This is a no jury exhibition to showcase the artwork of our valued members. All members may display one original artwork or design. All media accepted. Questions? Contact Gallery Director gallerydirectorcac@gmail.com

Drop Off Artwork: January 2-3, 12:00 - 4:00PM

Art Entry Fee: Membership

Pick-Up Dates: Monday, Jan 30, 12:00 – 4:00 PM

 

Terms for Entry:

  • Membership must be up to date at time of drop off and current through the exhibit. Contact our office for questions.
  • 1 piece per artist, not previously shown at the CAC Gallery or Gift Shop.
  • A completed entry form.
  • Attach your name to the front. We use this tag to match your artwork with the wall label once it is hung. Do not attach entry form to the artwork.
  • Title or prices cannot change after the time of the drop-off. Artworks do not need to be for sale. All info for wall label is taken from this form.
  • Framing and hanging hardware is not required if a painting can be hung from stretcher bar.
  • A donation of 30% to CAC is suggested on all sales in this exhibit.
  • Artworks may not be removed prior to the close of the exhibition, nor will sold artworks be released early.
  • Work submitted must be completely dry.
  • Work must be able to me moved by one person.
  • Work determined by the Gallery Director to be too fragile for safe handling and/or display will not be accepted.
  • Works not picked up after 60 days will be considered abandoned and may become property of CAC.
