This annual exhibit brings together Chico's young, creative talent. Every year, our secondary school Art Teachers are tasked with selecting their student's most expressive and skillful artworks and preparing their work for exhibition. This is the only exhibit in our area to display the formative, 8 year span of our youth's creative development in a curated, visually literate environment. Please join in celebrating creative minds at work in arts education. 

Cash prizes are generously donated by Made in Chico, Pennie Baxter and Teresa Gisske.

This year's jurors are Pamela Newman of North State Parent Magazine, Digital Media Professor at Chico State, Josh Funk and monca Board Member and retired High School Art Teacher, Pennie Baxter.

Chico Noon Rotary honors Erin Hall with Chico’s Educator of the Year

Says Inspire Principal Becky Brown, “Erin’s students frequently say that he helped them find what they wanted to do with their lives.” Erin joined the Digital Media Arts Program at Inspire in 2004, teaching classes in video, graphic design, digital photography and animation. He also spends countless hours assisting the Hawks Video Club, providing after hours help to his students and working to create cross-discipline curriculum with other teachers. Chico Art Center kicks off our 66th year with artworks by artists that support our organization with their membership. Whether an artist is a novice or pro, it is always a generous act to make one’s personal creation public for all. Visitors have a chance to see what studio artists, both regional and national offer up.

Reception: Saturday, January 8, 5:00 - 7:00 PM

With regret, the reception for the Member Showcase has been cancelled due to increasing numbers in Butte County of COVID-19 and Omicron cases. This reception is always a favorite event to host. However, the board of directors feel that it is in the best interests for all, not to gather during this time.

The gallery exhibition is on view during our normal daily hours. All are welcome to visit this show of amazing local talent in person! Masking indoors is required per state mandate.

The Art of Remembrance: Dia de los Muertos

Whether the Day of the Dead is already part of your family tradition or inspires you to start new ones, all are welcome to pay tribute to a loved one by adding their name to the community altar.

Learn about the tradition of La Ofrenda, the altar and Tapetes, a colorful artwork made on the ground with Maria Shahid of Diario Sabias Que.

Decorate a Calavera de Azúcar, a sugar skull or make a Papel Picado, a cut paper banner.

Open Studios Art Tour is an annual Butte County tradition. Artists share their private studios with the public to explore. This event series is produced solely by Chico Art Center (CAC) volunteers as our major fundraising project of the year. Your participation and patronage pledges your commitment to visual artists in your region and helps make CAC's programming possible all year. Where can I purchase a Guidebook?

Purchasing a guidebook gives you preview information about the artists, how to contact them, and which weekends art studios are open. Guidebooks will be available October 2nd. Purchase Tour Guides for $15 at the following locations:
