Reta Rickmers

Jaime Albertie
Reta’s work is a contrast of realistic images juxtaposed against abstract backgrounds of color, patterns, and textures. Subjects are closely observed and draw from her personal experiences and travels. They include birds, doors from Yucatan and Europe, guitars, and empty landscapes adorned with birds on wires. There is sometimes a feeling of nostalgia.
Jamie’s background as a photographer influences his approach to his art. He works from his photos. His aim is to capture the landscape in different times of day and seasons. In this way he is influenced by the Impressionists. His work showcases the beauty of northern California.
